PRIVACY POLICY
This website respects the privacy of those who visit it: no registration form is required and there are no direct or indirect links to social platforms, nor newsletters and other external services for analysis, tracking or profiling.
To keep track of site visits, GoatCounter was chosen, an independent open source alternative to the more famous Google Analytics. This tool is designed to collect only essential information and does not require the user's consent as it collects it in an aggregated and anonymous manner. GoatCounter is fully GDPR compliant.
The information collected is:
- the URL of the visited page
- the User-Agent and Referer header
- the screen size
- the country of origin (inferred from the IP)
Personal information (such as IP) is not saved: a hash of IP address and User-Agent, together with random numbers, are kept in memory for 8 hours for the sole purpose of identifying a browser session. Basically, this string is used to understand if the same user visits more than one page while browsing, employing an ephemeral identifier to aggregate related statistics.
GoatCounter does not save information through the use of cookies, localStorage or other similar methods.
One of the advantages of this radical choice is the speed of the site which is not slowed down by tracking scripts and consequently also the ability to remove GDPR related notes, as there is nothing to declare.
For more information on this tool, this technical note and the related in-depth discussion on GDPR may be of interest to the curious.
To enter the private area, the site makes use of an extremely minimal login system: access to the website requires a password that can be obtained by invitation or requested. This means that the concept of account does not exist and consequently no registration form is required. Basically, there are no external references to users who have requested access, but only a list of valid passwords to be admitted to the private area.
The respect for privacy and anonymity is also reflected in specific active choices:
Cookie
The stay in the private area is managed through the use of a single session cookie that will be removed from the browser (and its corresponding file from the server through the CMS) when its expiration date is exceeded: that is 2 hours from the time of the log and after a time of inactivity of 30min. This file has the sole purpose of verifying whether or not the current user possesses the necessary privileges to remain logged in.
Technical cookies of this type do not require consent from the visitor (https://gdpr.eu/).
FLoC
There is a block related to Google's FLoC, which aims to ambiguously profile anyone using Chrome in a way that can be difficult to circumvent. Here some information about it (https://amifloced.org/).
Silly Move
To develop the main movement effect on the site, a small JS library was created ad hoc. The code is open source and you can find it on Github.

It takes privacy, some alone space and time, to see things in their complexity, in their wholeness. Privacy is largely a matter of respect for the experience that someone close to us is having. This website has a high regard of its onlookers‘ personal sphere. No one can intercept their gaze. No personal information is collected, there is no space for comments, no windows open on external and social platforms. That’s why those who access it, do so by invitation or upon request.
